Hand-typeset Sanskrit manuscripts in Pandulipi format

A pandulipi is not a book. The pages are horizontal, bound with thread between two covers, and they turn one at a time — the way palm-leaf manuscripts were read for centuries before printing arrived. We make them the same way, by hand, in our Jaipur workshop.

Every text is typeset letter by letter and checked against the source before it is bound. That check is the part that takes longest, and it is the reason a Hanuman Chalisa from us reads the same as the one your grandmother recited.

Available in five languages

Most devotional texts in India are sold only in Devanagari. We set the same texts in the script people actually read at home.

  • Hindi and Sanskrit — the full catalogue, 16 titles
  • Kannada — Hanuman Chalisa, Vishnu Sahasranama, Bhaktamar Stotra
  • Telugu — Hanuman Chalisa, Vishnu Sahasranama
  • Gujarati — Hanuman Chalisa
  • English — Hanuman Chalisa and Vishnu Sahasranama with meaning

For daily path, and for giving

Everyday recitation

The binding lies flat on its own, so you are not holding the book open with one hand while reading. The smaller editions fit in a bag for travel.

Gifting

Every manuscript arrives in a box or velvet pouch, ready to give. The Chalisa Sangrah gift set carries four texts in one box.

Bhandara and corporate orders

Packs of 5, 25, 50 and 100 are priced per copy, and the price drops as the pack grows. Custom covers and name printing are available above 100 copies — request a quote.

Questions people ask

What exactly is a pandulipi?

A manuscript format with horizontal pages, thread binding and wooden covers, based on how texts were written and read before printed books. It opens flat and the pages turn one by one.

Is the text verified?

Yes. Each title is checked against the source text before it goes to binding.

Which language editions exist?

Hindi and Sanskrit, Kannada, Telugu, Gujarati, and English with meaning. Not every title exists in every language yet — the language page for each script shows what is available today.

Do you take bulk orders for bhandara?

Yes. Packs go up to 100 copies with per-copy pricing, and larger quantities can be quoted with custom covers and staggered delivery.

Can I cancel an order?

Orders can be cancelled any time before dispatch. Once a parcel has left the workshop it cannot be cancelled. Prepaid refunds are returned within 7 working days.
